STRAUSS: LIEDER
|
1
in plastische, bildmächtige Szenen.
Strauss'schen Textdichter ausgleicht.
3 - Kaufmann is a fine interpreter of this repertoire, and one
can look forward to further performances and recordings from him.
4 - This recital debut shows what we have been missing. In his
mid-thirties, Kaufmann is arguably the finest tenor Germany has produced
since Fritz Wunderlich, with a tone that is both muscular and capable of
honeyed delicacy.
5 - Jonas Kaufmann's voice seems forged of pure silver, and when
he's singing at full throttle, as in "Ich liebe dich," it has a
thrilling tactile solidity. Yet Kaufmann's sotto voce is more impressive
still. Emotionally, too, there's astonishing variety and depth.
7 - Here, in a thrilling recital debut on disc, the outstanding
young German tenor offers a selection of 28 lieder. (CD of the week)
8 - Beautiful, intelligent singing and a chance to hear gorgeous
music anew: What’s not to like? (5 stars)
dabei geschmeidigen Vokalorgan traktiert.
atemberaubend kraftvoll-metallische, extrem fokussierte, beinahe
heldische Stimme mit unverwechselbarem Timbre.
13 - This is a fine CD and Kaufmann is a tenor whose career we
should follow.
14 - Richard Strauss notoriously disliked tenors, once even going
to far as to call them "a disease". You can't help feeling, however,
that he might have changed his mind had he heard this tremendous disc,
which features Jonas Kaufmann tackling 27 of his songs. Stupendous is
the only word to describe it. (5 stars)
15 -The honey-toned German tenor Jonas Kaufmann does them tender
justice.
18 - Kaufmann "glaubt" man, was er singt.
19 - With a tone both muscular and capable of honeyed delicacy,
Jonas Kaufmann provides the perfect retort to Strauss's barb that the
tenor is less a voice than a disease.
20 - The young German singer ignites this collection of Strauss
lieder singing his heart out and making the new release an instant
favourite.
21 - Kaufmann shows his versatility in the many moods of these 28
lieder. This is an impressive debut from Germany’s young tenor.
22 - Kaufmann's is a fine recital that will give much pleasure to
those who already know the music and serve as a reasonable introduction
for those who don't, especially in Harmonia Mundi's close, full, and
warm sound. |
