Verdi: Messa da Requiem, Salzburg Osterfestival 2010 |
|
Highs and lows of the Salzburg Easter festival
(Ausschnitt aus einem Artikel über die Osterfestspiele) |
... The concert highlight for me, though, was
Mariss Jansons’s super-refined, but thrilling, account of Verdi’s great mass
for the dead. If there is redemption from the apocalypse, it was suggested
in the matchlessly musical singing of Krassimira Stoyanova’s plangent
soprano in the Libera me, and Jonas Kaufmann’s spellbindingly half-voiced
words of penitence in the Ingemisco. Such sensitive and self-effacing
artistry in this usually too operatic work is both rare and revelatory. |
