Thrilling Tosca: London Picks

Kaufmann's Presence
There's another outstanding performance to catch in London at the moment
too. German tenor Jonas Kaufmann is singing the role of Cavaradossi in
``Tosca'' at Covent Garden, and he brings a thrilling voice, sensitive
musicianship and an intense stage presence to the part.
Micaela Carosi is nice and loud as the eponymous diva, and Paolo Gavanelli
amusingly crude as the evil Scarpia. In Jonathan Kent's traditional-style
production, it all adds up to a Covent Garden goodie. |
