Kaufmann's seductive voice shines throughout this recording of arias. The young German sings with urgent passion and well-tuned sense of drama which fuels the works, notably the selections from Parsifal which he performs to near perfection. His sense of musical shading is extraordinary - the aria from Fidelio displays how Kaufmann doesn't simply sing but takes us through each line and nuance to convey the emotions lying at the heart of the music.
