Romantic Arias

Kauffman is a German tenor who now stars in roles from Mozart to Wagner,
with boyish film-star looks and a heavy, robust voice that one might
associate more with a baritone.
This is his debut solo album and it shows the passion and power in his
singing of 13 best-known tenor arias from operas.
The excellent Czech orchestra assists, conducted by Marco Armiliato, and
the booklet will also please some with its lyrics and translations.
Represented are Verdi (Rigoletto) and Puccini (La Boheme), from Italy;
Berlioz (The Damnation of Faust) and Bizet (Carmen) from France; and of
course Wagner (Die Meistersinger) as the epitome of German Romanticism.
Kaufmann represents one of the new wave of operatic tenors and he could be
well started on the way to a legendary career. |
