 As he is demonstrating in the Royal Opera House's La Traviata, the German
tenor Jonas Kaufmann has an artistry as refined as any in the business.
All he lacks is a really big sound, but that doesn't matter here. He
begins with a graceful rendition of "Your Little Hand Is Frozen", and
moves on via Don Jose in Carmen to a well- chosen medley from Verdi,
